How hockey skates should fit
A hockey skate should hold the heel and sit close through the midfoot. Toes can brush the cap when you stand; they should not be jammed when you flex.
If the length is right but the forefoot is crushed, that is usually a width or volume problem โ not a reason to jump a full size.
Hockey Fit Check starts from shoe size, then asks how a current skate feels when you have one.
Length vs fit
Length / size is how long the boot is. Shoe size is a starting point, not a guaranteed skate size.
Fit / shape is volume and width. If length is right and the forefoot is crushed, look at a roomier option (Bauer Fit 3, CCM Wide) before jumping a full size.
Brand fit names
Bauer: Fit 1 (narrower/lower), Fit 2 (mid), Fit 3 (roomier). Manufacturer names โ kept as published.
CCM: Tapered / Regular / Wide. Hockey Fit Check does not treat Fit 1 as the same thing as Tapered.
TRUE: Regular / Wide appear on listed Catalyst models. Exact last geometry vs Bauer/CCM is not published well enough here to equate them.
