Many adult players land near “men’s street shoe (US) minus about 1 to 1.5” as a starting skate. A women’s street shoe (US) typically starts about 3 sizes down. Kids / youth shoe sizes use youth and junior charts, not the adult formula. Hockey Fit Check asks which shoe scale you mean, then uses current-skate feel when you have it.
Do not treat that offset as a law. Bauer, CCM, and TRUE do not share one last. Half sizes exist on many senior models; exact size lists are verified per model when we have them.
